Mary Stanger is the wife and business partner of David Stanger, and is co-owner of the DSA Media Network. She is also one of the best-kept secrets in the media community, having spent over 30 years in a number of diverse and often unique positions within the industry. A graduate of the Advertising program at St. Clair College in Windsor Ontario, Mary started her media career in February of 1978 as a media assistant at McCann Erickson in Toronto, working on several major Television A.O.R. assignments. After a year on the agency side, she "crossed over to the other side of the desk", and spent the next two years as a sales and research assistant to one of Canada's largest TV and radio rep shops. In 1980, she was "lured" back to the agency scene and spent the better part of the next two years working at Norman Craig & Kummel on the Colgate Palmolive AOR and several large print assignments. After a brief "time-out" for the birth of the first Stanger daughter and a move across the country to Vancouver, Mary was hired to set up a radio sales office for Major Market Broadcasters. Working side-by-side with John Newbery, she spent most of the next six years calling on agencies and providing sales and traffic support for a number of CHUM, Rawlco and independent radio stations across Canada. By the late 80's, Rogers radio was preparing to build and launch SRN - the Satellite Radio Network, and in 1988, Mary was hired to help pioneer the growth of SRN as both a supplier of syndicated radio programming ("Cryin, Lovin or Leavin"), and as a commercial distribution alternative to sending out dubs. From 1991 to 1996 Mary took a hiatus from the business world to focus on the family, but in March of 1997, and back on the west coast, Mary was "lured" back into the advertising industry and helped David set up and establish DSA. Today, she is responsible for the all of the behind-the-scenes work in managing the DSA Network and overseeing the Broadcast Traffic function for all our clients. |
